Dr Siseko Mzendana is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Linksfield with a special interest in supporting women through the many stages of their reproductive health journey.
In addition to his Linksfield practice, Dr Mzendana is also available at Netcare Rosebank Hospital, and holds sessional rooms and admitting rights at Netcare Lakeview Hospital.
He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the Medical University of South Africa, now known as Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. He furthered his training by completing a Diploma in Obstetrics through the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, followed by a Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Wits University and a Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
For Dr Mzendana, the decision to pursue obstetrics and gynaecology came naturally. Early in his career, he found himself drawn to both medicine and surgery. Choosing a speciality that combines the two allowed him to build a career that reflects his interests while caring for women through some of life's most significant moments.
For Dr Mzendana, few experiences are as meaningful as supporting families throughout pregnancy. Seeing the excitement and being involved in a family's pregnancy journey is one of the reasons Dr Mzendana was drawn to the speciality. From the excitement of a first heartbeat to the arrival of a new baby, being part of a family's pregnancy journey continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of his work.
In addition to obstetric care, Dr Mzendana works with women experiencing a range of gynaecological concerns, from fertility difficulties to symptoms that affect daily life.
He believes that patients should leave a consultation with a clearer understanding of their health, what may be causing their symptoms, and the options available to them.
